I had my lap band surgery on Tuesday June 3, I'm back at home, no pain meds since Wednesday evening, seem to be doing well. I have experienced some really uncomfortable hot flashes, though, and wonder if this is normal. I'm 55 years old, went through menopause then a complete hysterectomy in late 2012. My flashes have dwindled down to nothing since the hysterectomy, but are really HOT since my weight loss surgery. I have never taken hormone replacements.

Congrats on your new lapband! Your hot flashes may be related to the anesthetic or other post-op medication (pain, or other). I know I had hot flashes related to my post op pain control medication--it wasn't an opiate (I can't take those) but it was something else that made me feel like I was back in menopause. It only lasted a couple of days, however.
