Question before I try my doctor

I was banded on March 29th so I am about two and a half weeks out. I have noticed that I have a regular ache on my left side. It feels like a slight side ache that you sometimes get when you run. My port is on the right side so it isn't related to that. Has anyone else had this and if so did it go away? I don't want to call the office if it is something that everyone experiences..

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Sounds to me like gas pains or abdominal muscle pain from the surgery. Walk as much as possible and a heating pad might help!

Good Luck!

It could be gas pain but it is pretty much always there. I would think gas pain would go away after a few days and/or move to a new location. Maybe it is gas from the surgery but not in my digestive track. I just didn't feel it until about a week ago.

I have some occasional pain on my left side right below my rib cage. Usually it means I'm getting a bit constipated (sorry, TMI). I do eat a lot of cheese so that's probably the culprit. Are you getting all your fluids in? Try a stool softener or Milk of Magnesia.

I was banded the same day as you. :)

Thanks both of you for the advice. I took some Milk of Magnesia because I figured it couldn't hurt. It would clean me out and solve either of the two suggested causes...

Syrah have you lost much weight? I have only lost 6 lbs. I have read all these people who have lost so much right away. I noticed that besides both having surgery the same day our BMI are about the same.

Jackspratswife, I was weighed about 6 days after surgery (at my first pre-op appt) and had lost 6 lbs at that point. I have not weighed since then. I think that I've lost a little more than that by now. My face has slimmed down and I have clavicles again. LOL! But I'm trying really hard not to get obsessive about it. I tend to be a slow loser and I don't want to get discouraged. I will be weighed at my next appt on May 9 (when I have my first fill).

Don't fret about it too much - I keep hearing that the weight really starts to melt off after your first fill.

I have the same pain... would describe it as a runners cramp, but I have not ran anywhere since surgery... OK I wasn't running before surgery either LOL.

I guessed it was delayed gas pain and am taking Gas-X for it.
