Tylenol...

Hello all!!

I am 4 days post-op and want to get off the drugs they sent me home with. I've been taking pills just fine since I left the hospital. Any kind of liquid pain stuff made me vomit.

So I know we can take Tylenol, I was just wondering how much. I have the 500mg stuff from costco in the house. Any suggestions?

My dr has me on 2 Tylenol ever 4 hours as needed.. He doesn't believe in sending u home with any pain meds.. The Tylenol has helped but when u take the 2 he tells u to take 1 then in 5 minutes take the other one.. Hope it helps

He does not believe in sending you home with pain meds? Well I can assume he has never been in terrible pain then. When will people realize that pain meds are a good thing? Our bodies are healing from some major stuff and if your in pain or fighting pain you can't heal right. If you take the pain meds then you are giving your body a chance to heal.

As far as Tylenol goes... It's pretty much the weakest sauce you can take. I call em placebo pills cause they just don't do anything. If I have to take them 500 mg just won't do. I take 1000.

My liver is fine and in not hooked on drugs. I keep up on my pain meds cause I want my body to heal properly.

I took Tylenol after day 2 did not suffer and walked a mile a day. I took liquid but whatever works for you.

My surgeon wants me on ibuprofen. Says it's fine for sleeves, just not bypass. But I still have pain and an frustrated by feeling like some addict by asking for more pain medication. I meet so many people who never even filed their prescriptions, but I'm still in significant pain by the end of the day.
