surgery scheduled for April 21

I'm so excited and also nervous!

Started my pre op diet which is a full liquid diet yesterday... so far things are going great. I had lost 14 lbs between my first seminar on Jan 9 and my last appointment with the Pcp which was march 28... I'm so excited and cant wait!

I ended up being self pay but its really ok; because its so worth it!

Hang in there. When do you start the pre op diet and how long will you be in the hospital?

I started yesterday. It has been rough these two days for me. I'm really hungry. But I also go to the gym frequently and with me only having so few calories I'm burning everything off. But I will just stick it out. My doctor said I will be in the hospital between 1-3 days depending on my pain level and if there might be any complications.

I think I need to start walking again after work to take my mind off of it. I had a few crazy weeks at work and fell off the wagon with working out.

Is yours a liquid pre op diet?

Yeah I'm trying to stay active in hopes it will help with healing faster after surgery. Yeah all liquid :/. I have three different protein shakes which are bad but I can handle them and some vegetable soup which I completely hate and will not have it again.

I hate veggie soup! Ive been doing Greek yogurt plus fat free milk; ice; and Protein powder shakes but I think they are getting old :(

Ive been doing cream of chicken soup mixed with fat free milk and taking out the chicken chunks

I would kill for some Greek yogurt and skim milk. My diet is so strict. I really hope it gets better. I'm going crazy lol. I feel like I'm starving myself.

Bless your heart! So you are stuck on clear liquids? That doesn't seem like much fun at all girl I don't know how you can do that for 2 weeks

Yes!! It is horrible. I'm going to talk with my dietician and see if I can go buy some broth to have. I know some people get to eat vegetables.

If you lose during the pre-op liquid diet phase, can you be turned down because BMI hits 35?

If you lose during the pre-op liquid diet phase, can you be turned down because BMI hits 35?

NO. The pre-surgery diet is NOT a sustainable diet, and it is designed to shrink your liver temporarily to reduce the risk of secondary injury. Your approval is based on your BMI at the time of the info being sent in, along with the doctor indicating that you have TRIED to lose weight in a normal healthy diet and cannot, and have a co-morbidity.

It isn't like a mortgage with pre-approval and a final credit check right at the moment you're in the office ready to sign!!!

I'm on the 21st too! Starting my liquids tomorrow. Really really nervousness about only that.
