So basically I have gotten my cardiac, chest xrays, psych eval & pulmonary clearance. Just have to wait until next week to see my primary doctor to get letter of recommendation & clearance. Also my first nutrition class is next week as well. Im so proud of myself that I have gotten all of this out of the way within 4wks time. I just hope to get a date for late spring. I also have a referral to get an ultrasound of my gall bladder & an endocrine clearance? Not sure if those are mandatory. But I sure hope not.. these co pays are killing me. Im just ready to get a date so I can feel set about this whole process. Anyone else still foing thru clearances?

As far as I know all surgeons require these clearances. It's to insure your in optimum health for surgery.

So I needed a stress test, EKG , pulm function, sleep study, heart and abdominal sono, venous Doppler, psych eval, nut appt, and finally PCP medical clearance. And I was told that this is the standard. If you're not required, GOD BLESS bc they are a pain in the ass but I would make sure!!

I forgot the endoscopy!! I must say I enjoyed the anesthesia a lot. Lol. So painless and quick!!

I had to get a psych eval, chest xray for my pulmonary clearance which was just a test on my breathing, cardiac clearance where they just recorded my heart rate/beat,and basically see my pcp for medical clearance although he did refer me already. Not to mention the nutrion classes (2) and one support group meeting. I think u should double check as well

Hmmm that's interesting. I think a lot of that may have been in response to insurance requirements. I had one dr tell me I needed a referral and letter of medical necessity from my PCP. I pushed back because it wasn't necessary. I just checked a different Drs website and he performs the esophageal motility testing, but notes additional clearances may be needed based upon your insurance. No other standard clearances are required.
