Protein / protein drinks?

hey everyone...I need help understanding the whole protein part of being banded. I was told I needed to have about 70 grams a day and I am no where near that figure. I've looked at protein bars and shakes and they seem to be for body builders, so I really need help with this. Why do we need so many grams? how many grams are you taking in? How are you doing it...are you using shakes/ bars- what brands would you recommend? Any high protein foods you'd recommend? Are we always going to have to consume so much protein??Thanks for any info on this!

My Dr recommended Muscle Milk. I usually drink that or any type if protein drink each day. Apparently you can lose hair if your not getting enough.. My other main sources are chicken, eggs and Greek yogurt. I usually eat non fat Greek yogurt, each serving usually has more than 20 grams.

look for Protein drinks that have at least 20 grams and 100 calories for the drink. some have higher protein grams but they also have higher calories. go to amazon and check out what is there. all sorts of Protein Drinks. there is also a bariatric surgery site you can buy all you need from. amazon is just cheaper. ppl say that the protein premier from costco is good as well.

Your whole weight loss depends on Protein. Your doctor should have given you a food list of what you should be eating. You don't want weight lifters protein because we don't want to bulk up. You want whey protein with isolates. You really need to call your nutritionist and get her to explain the importance of your protein intake. You can't do this blind with not knowing what to eat and what we eat may not be what your doctor wants you to eat. Call the office and get things straight.

My dietitian gave me a list of brands. Didn't you get one? For bars I buy Cliff with 20 g of protein. For powder I buy Body Fortress on chocolate and that has around 30g of protein in 1 scoop Chicken is great for protein. I also eat a lot of salmon and ground beef. Good luck
