Protein Shakes with Fruit

So I'm on Day 6 of my preop diet and I've been adding frozen berries (no sugar added) to my Protein shakes. Does anyone do this right away post op or is it usually not recommended?

I wasn't allowed any fruit of any type on my three week pre-op diet. I wanted berries bad! I am currently eleven days post op (RYGB), I am on Protein Shakes & hydrating fluids all sugar free/zero calorie. So,no...no fruit for me just yet.

Thanks I probably shouldn't be having them either . There needs to be more instruction (at least at my center) around the preop diet. They just give you a sheet of paper that list liquids only very casually. Do they not get that going cold turkey (no pun intended) off of food for 7 days or more before the surgery is a big deal and may need a little more follow up, instruction, or gradually working into-seeing that overeating is the real issue.

As far as fruit I was not aloud it until 8 weeks.

Your pre op is mainly to shrink your liver so they have room to work safely its not meant to torture you. You need to keep yourself focused with your mind on the end result, its only a couple weeks...not to sound mean but be strong and do what you got to do...good luck
