Submitting to UHC

My surgeons office is going to submit my info to UHC either Monday or Tuesday. I am very nervous and excited and scared and every other emotion all at once. I have UHC through MD Medicaid and my question is through 6months of NUT visits and mental eval and 4 yrs of weight history. With all that how fast did you guys get an approval

Hello want2bsleeved87,

Welcome to BariatricPal. I have UHC and my claim was approved in one week. It was submitted on 9/11, reviewed and approved on 9/18. My doctor's office does not schedule the actual date until they have the letter in writing. They want to make sure the correct surgery and codes are listed on the letter. I swear they sent the letter via pony express since it took 9 days to arrive. The doctor's office called me on 9/27 to schedule surgery. I had my surgery on 10/25 due to work commitments.

I have been told it can take up to a month. My employer goes through Optum, and the case manager told me they have 15 business days to respond.

Good luck with your upcoming surgery.
