Gall Bladder Disease

Recommended Posts

Good Morning Friends,

I have started the clearance process and have already gotten my chest xray, lab work, and ultrasound of my gall bladder. I am hoping to have surgery in late January or early February and trying to get all my clearance done. Have cardiology and pulmonology appointments next week and hopefully I can get an appointment with the psychologist soon. The soonest I could get in with the gastroenterologist was january 6, but that should be the last clearance I will need. Well I got a call from my PCM office with the results of the ultrasound and was told that I have gall baldder disease. I have no idea what that means. Will this hinder my RNY surgery?

It should not hinder it. Your surgeon may be able to remove the gallbladder at the same time as your rny. It will need to come out as it is common for rny patients to have issues. I had mine removed about 4 months post op.

A few years back it was common for some surgeons to remove the gall bladder at the same time they did the gastric bypass. Clinical studies failed to show that the incidence of gall bladder disease following bypass justified the "automatic" removal so most surgeons discontinued the practice. But as music has indicated, with your pre-op diagnosis, the surgeon will very likely remove the gall bladder at the same time. There's no point in having two surgeries when the same job can be done with one.

You're gonna love the new you!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
