I was surprised at just how little I could really get down at first. I had to ask a nurse to coach me to get the liquid percocet down. I wasn't prepared at all for that.

Besides that, once pain was controlled for me, I was up cruising the ward walking. I felt pretty good, but I've had two babies and a hysterectomy. So for me the pain etc was piece of cake.

I also ended not caring about showering or a bra. I wanted my own shower I guess.

Good luck, your in for an amazing journey!

I was surprised that I could actually notice a marked improvement hour by hour.

Is it true that post surgery you experience less head hunger? I'm thinking about thanksgiving. I know if I were to be there on this pre op diet I would feel like I was starving and really missing out. Does that get better post surgery?

The surgery will definitely not change your head hunger. That is one of the biggest obstacles with dealing with the changes.

I was surprised at how quickly you can start increasing your Water intake. The day after surgery, it would take me a couple of hours to get in 8 ounces. A few days later, it was an hour to get in 8 ounces.

I was also surprised at how quickly my surgeon had me up and walking and sitting in a chair - IMMEDIATELY. Like out of recovery and it's time to sit. Then walk. And I was surprised that I was ready and wanting to walk.

Most of all I was surprised at my thoughts - I almost backed out the day before surgery. I had some serious second thoughts. But then I would think about all the reasons I wanted to do this. It took about 3-4 days after surgery to be OK with my decision to go thru with the surgery. I was scared those first few days.

Best of luck to you!

For me the head hunger was worse for the first few weeks. Once I started on more solid foods it completely went away.

My surgery is Tuesday as well and I feel the same way. I just keep my eyes on the bigger prize. This liquid diet sucks, but so has 20+ years of being morbidly obese. :-)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
