Feeling a little stressed. A nurse that I work with went out of state to have her surgery which is very common in Alaska. We have very few surgeons here that are skilled in wls. I feel that my surgeon is very skilled and I haven't had any reservations about my surgery. Well today she told me she went out of state because my doc has bad outcomes. I've researched his practice thoroughly so I'm pretty confident in my decision. It just kinda caught me off guard. Especially being so close to my surgery date. I asked her for data to support her claims. I've checked ACS, ASMBS, the state medical board, BBB and patient reviews. I can't find any complaints or actions against him or his practice. Except for a couple of disgruntled patients he refused to operate on or complaints about his staff. I haven't had those problems. He was very open about his complication/death rates during the seminar. His rates are lower than the National average. He's the Chief of the Centers of excellence at one of our local hospitals. I'm not sure if I should just let it go and move forward or if I should seriously consider the data she gives me?
