When someone creates an accoun here, there's a field where they can enter the name of a user who referred them to the site. When someone enters a valid username, it adds a referral to their tally.

God. you are going to think I"m an idiot. so, If i have one, that means someone is online and has joined the forum because I referred them.. right??

Yes. Pretty much but with some slight differences. Technically all it means is that someone registered an account here and entered your name when asked who referred them.
