Day One POST-op! Any others :)

Recommended Posts

Today is day on of post-op. I had my surgery yesterday morning (24th). So far so good. First leak study should be done around 9am this morning. Let's pray it successful :)

Has anyone else had theirs this week, we can share new journey together :)

So far the only part that bothers me is the terrible cotton mouth since you can't drink for 24 hours. Other than that, I managed to walking around (best thing you and do) and I can go potty alone.

I must say from day one with Dr.Cribbins to post op at Baylor Frisco has been amazing experience. Every person I came in contact are truly great! And hospital Beautiful. My room is like mini hotel. It has my area and TV and a little den area where my kids and or guest can watch their own TV on pull out couch. Who ever thought of that extra perk is genius, especially for patients with kids!

To make the stay better my preop nurse shared with me that not only did she have the sleeve 2+ years ago any lost 124 pounds... She had same surgeon as I did! She eased every doubt and fear and had me lol by time they rolled me back.

Good luck and God bless my new virtual sleeve family!

Elaine

Hi Elaine! I was sleeved yesterday at noon! I have to do my swallow study around lunch time today. I'll keep my fingers crossed for both of us.

I was sleeved on Monday also in Dallas. The cottonmouth was awful. My nurse gave me some swabs for that and also let me brush my teeth which was GREAT at that point.

I just did my leak test they said it looked beautiful!!! I feel much better than I thought I would about 6 hours after surgery I was up and walking. And by 12... I was getting in and out of my bed taking walks all by myself.... Well myself and morphine LOL

I get to go home tomorrow :)

I was given a great tip from one of the nurses that had a sleeve ... She said an easy way to double your Protein ...is to use flavored Protein packs (I love unjury brand....instead if mixing one scoop use two ... And since you can only drink two ounces at a time you won't have to drink a lot of it at once even if the taste is too much on you....BUT if you can tolerate 2 ounces at a time then when you get to 8 ounces you will have consumed about 40-44 grams! I believe Unjury vanilla has 22grams in each scoop:)

Good luck to my sleeve buddies!

I'm doing great. Weight loss is slow for me. I was on a 3 week stall at my 3rd week post op. But, losing again now, but, still slow. I have had very few problems. I was only really tired for about a week at my 4th week. Absolutely no energy that week and just wanted to sleep. I'm loving my sleeve. No regrets.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
