Keep forgetting to ask...

Recommended Posts

Hi all! I keep forgetting to ask my Doc...is anyone else on here a singer? If so, has this surgery affected your performance? How long before you could belt it out?

I know it will be a while before I can sing full voice again after surgery, but wanted to know that it will be temporary and wouldn't affect performance for the long term.

I"m not a professional singer, but I have a pretty good voice and I enjoy singing immensley. If I couldn't sing, I just wouldn't be the same person. Post op (i'm on day 11) I pretty much feel back to normal and have not had any problems with my voice sounding different. Then again, I"m probably not singing from as deep down as you are. Can you give me some pointers?

I am not a singer, but if I had 3 wishes, that would be one of them ( a beautiful voice).

but I can say that I am 4 weeks post op and deep breaths still hurt my port area sometimes, a sort of tweaking pain (as it all heals) so for what that's worth. I suppose it depends on what you are singing but I know breath is important.

Good Luck:D

Thank you for the replies. As I was reading different posts, I realized how it was going to be an adjustment, breathing deeply again, then I thought...OH NO...what if.....

I guessed that guitar would be out for a few weeks as my insision healed, but didn't think about the singing until recently and I kept forgetting to ask the doc.

Guess I should shoot him and email and ask for a realisitic time frame before thinking of performing again. I wasn't going to tell people what kind of surgery I was having, because I didn't want a bunch of questions...but I guess I'll have to let the band in on in soon.

Pointers?? Just sing sing sing...it's a natural anti-depressant!!! :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
