A lIttle over 24 hours to go until surgery Wow this came a lot faster than I expected. I jUst keep taking slow drop breaths and saying it's gOing to be ok.

You will do great. Good luck to you. Relax. Pretty soon you will be on the losers bench. You will be in good hands.

Everyone talks about what to bring to the hospital .... How to prepare before and after surgery but I would like to know from those who have already have had surgery.. What were the steps you went through once you arrived at the hospital ? My wife and I have surgery next week and we are prepared for it but are wondering what happens at that point when we get there ?

Like.. Did anyone have anymore test done? Bloodwork? EKG ? How long was the wait before you actually went into surgery? Any help would help our nerves.. lol

My surgery was scheduled for 1:30, I had to be there 2 hours early. I had no blood tests. They had me change into a gown and slippers. The nurse hooked up my I.V. Then they took me to the surgery floor. And they have me a little patch that went behind my ear to help keep me from being nauseated after surgery. Then they got a call that my surgeon was stuck on another surgery in another hospital so they took me to my room that I would go to after surgery. That was fine my family was there and I got to watch TV. Then we got a call that it would be closer to 4:30. At almost 5 my surgeon got there and they wheeled me back to surgery. Took me into the operating room and next thing I knew I was getting a mask put on my face and I was waking up in my room. No pain. First day was hell though. My stomach was swollen so I couldn't have anything by mouth. If I did it was thrown up immediately. So first day was all I.V. Then Thursday I was able to take my liquids but not as much as I was supposed to. Then Friday I was right on track and they let me go that evening. I have not had pain other that throwing up so I think I'm doing pretty good. I was up the next day after surgery walking all over.

As some of u no, but for you that don't, I had all the bysss laprascopic holses then he tried to look in anf couldn't see my stomach, so he had to cut me from my breast bone all the way down to the bottom. so it's going to take a lot longer for me to recover.

I've been thinking about you! I'm sorry to hear that but I'm glad you were still able to have your surgery! Take it slow. Don't push yourself to hard so you can heal properly. Keep us posted!

Good luck to you! We are going to do great! See you on the losers side!

I am getting excited reading all your posts. Can I join you guys? My surgery is Aug 22. Rny and Gallbladder. I am on liquid diet now. Blood work at 10:00 so cant cant have anything.

I am just now getting the gas pain in my shoulder. OMG it is something else. I thought I was in the clear a week and a half after surgery but apparently last night it finally caught up.

On another note: I'm trying scrambled eggs today! Hopefully this works out well since I've been terrified of starting to eat but am so done with broth.

I'm exactly 1 week post surgery and it is getting better. Last Saturday and Sunday I got major headaches, nausea, shortness of breath and that damn shoulder pain! I thought I was gonna die! Monday came and most of the symptoms went away. Now I'm only getting flashes of the headaches. I'm definitely more energetic, but if I do too much around the house at once, I get tired. Last night I was at Walmart for 30 minutes and it exhausted me like you wouldn't believe. Today I'm gonna attempt to drive!

When are we supposed to drive again? I forgot to ask my doctor but I figured it would be after we were done taking pain meds?

Yes I would say when your done your meds. I'm not taking anything anymore except the vitamins.

Welcome to the 22nd club! How are you doing?

We were told 1 week minimum even if we aren't on pain mess. The reason is because the steering g wheel sits right at the surgical sight and it something happened we could injure our incisions.

I am 3 days post op and still in some pain, but it is nothing compared to where it was 2 days ago. I struggle with my water/protein intake and I'm allowed to have some soups and yogurt. I hope you guys are doing great! Oh, I am not taking the prescribed painkillers, they were too huge even after I split them into 6-8 pieces and when I powdered it, the powder was too bitter to swallow, so I went with children's Tylenol. It is damn sweet but stays down and I don't dump on it... Good luck to all of you!
