new here.

Had lapband in 2006 and 4 days later had emergency surgery to remove it bc when it was placed my stomach got perforated and had peritonitis by that time and was very sick went into heart failure and was in icu for several days. Now I wanna get bypass and am so scared bc of complications I had with lap band. I see the surgeon on Friday and see where to go from here. My 1st appointment with the surgeon she just told me about the procedure and possible complications. Have a lot of concerns with scar tissue bc of all the stomach surgeries I have had. Surgeon said high possibility of open surgery instead of lap surgery.

What I was reading was the bypass is a lot safer and a lot if people are having to cross over from lap band to RNY. I'm sure you won't have AS MANY complications tho.. if none at all. I would think having a foreign object in your body would cause issues alone.
