TMI - Black stool

I had surgery on 3/20 and since I've had maybe 6 BMs, all have been black and very soft but not loose.

I read that the first one or two could be normal due to blood in intestine from surgery but it should go back to normal.

I also read that continued black stool could be a sign of internal bleeding in the upper GI.

I'm going to call tomorrow but wanted to hear others experiences.

Since your so new out, you really need to probably visit a ER. There they can page your Dr and he can do a complete workup.

If you weren't my first thought was it may be from pepto that can cause that.

I hope your ok!

Did you take iron

I haven't been taking pepto but have been prescribed Pepcid for gastric healing. I have no pain, discomfort, etc. I'll hold off and call at 8am when office opens.
