Ok let me try this post for the third time. My day is going so bad So i have tri care south and as you know everything that has to do with tri care is complex everytime you need something you have to go threw your pcp first and get a refferal and then have it sumbited through tri care and wait for your pcp to call you then you call the doc they ref you to and make a appointment. Well thats what i did 2 1/2 weeks ago in order to get my pshc eval done and over with. Little did i know my time was being wasted and have to deal with the wicked bit** of the south. First off when i made my appointment the receptionist at the psychologist said Jennifer King (psychologist) said she didnt usually do evals because she was a lpc and not a md but she would do it as long as tri care and my surgeon accepted. So i then called my surgeon and they said it was fine and all i needed was one vist and the letter of approval. So today 8/6/2012 i showed up to the psychologist at 8:00 am my appointment time signed a paper and i was in. Jennifer king introduced herself and sized me up right away then led me into her office it was dark and had big couches that i sank to the bottom of it. Well 5 mins into the session she said "tell me why your here" so i told her because i need to get cleard as a pre rec for the surgery. She said well im not writting one because thats not my specialty and even if i did it would take 10 sessions to write one. So she said " what do you want me to do? i dont even know what questions to ask you. The doc should have sent me stuff to ask you" i thought she was crazy and said this session is over ive never heard of anyone not knowing what to say or questions to ask........so i walked out went to my pcp and told them what happened now i have to wait till the write another refferal and go to another phycologist and go with them. Gosh and i just want everyone to get there acts together so i can get my surgery done! Has anyone else had these problems? And how long did you have to go to the psychologist?

I have tri care too, they don't normal cover phycologist for weight loss surgery , so call a few different phycologist you doctor should have a list. And go with the cheapest one I pay $80, just look on the bright side tri care will pay 100 % of the surgery. And once you get all the test done it only takes like 3 days for approval.

I don't have tri care, but I'm so sorry this happened to you. I am in the process of getting licensed as an mft/lpc and i can't believe she would waste your time like that. Stay positive and keep truckin!

Yeah I have tri care prime south my hubbys activated so everythings free as of right now and really only that short of time I can't wait till they can see me.

I have tri care also I went to the psychologist with no issue just had to stay on him to write my report.

I am 28 and yes I had my rny on 7/25.

It's best to ask your doctor office what Psycologist do their recommend and see if you can find patients on the net or Facebook who had their surgery there to ask them who did they use.

Roxyraquel, your surgeon's office should be of more help to you in getting this psych evaluation done. My surgeon's office provided a list of 3 different providers, all of whom were familiar with the process and required documentation. I chose one of those, went for the appointment, and they faxed the results over to the surgeon. Done deal. Sorry to hear you are having so much trouble.

I had to be diligent about getting an appointment fast, Tricare actually gave me a referral to a doctor that doesn't even take Tricare, luckily I asked a lot of questions before making the appointment. I was on the phone with Tricare many times until they referred me to a psychiatrist that knew the requirements. Tricare can be very particular about the evaluation report so be sure you get someone who has done this before. My appt consisted of the doctor asking a few general questions and then I took the psych test on a computer, the surgeon had my report within the week. My PCP can be very forgetful so I did call a few times to 'verify' that a referral had been sent

Thanks for the advice I got another refferal to see dr.wolf I talked to her and made sure she could do it I told her about my experience and she told me it would be done in 1 day and she would sumbit it within the week my apts on Tuesday :-)
