Bi-Polar Sleevers

Prior to sleeving I had managed stability with Zoloft and Klonopin and had avoided mood stabilizers. I'm 7 weeks out and feel a ridiculous need to constantly moooove. I'm cleaning, talking, planning, scheming and building. I am following normal sleep patterns though. Is anyone having trouble telling the difference between hypomania and regular energy surge as a result of weight loss? I would love for this to just be natural energy. But we all know what happens next if it ain't.

  • Try going straight to the manufacturer. I get Lyrica (for my spinal stenosis) straight from Pfizer for no cost

  • Thanks all for sharing. I often wonder how much food served as sedation pre-surgery. Binge behavior often occurred when I felt more angst ridden. Perhaps I could have achieved more had pizza delivery

  • You know the drill. If your feeling hopeless call the doctor. Take no chances! I can say that while hopeless never happened, helpless lasted about 5 weeks and then this mania started. I felt for a bit

What insurance do u have for meds? Abilify 20mg is like $1000 a month at cvs. I was thinking of buying from canada. Any ideas?

I know Lamictal and certain other meds have a needs based program where you can get discounts through the company itself. Can you ask your p-doc about that option with Abilify?

This is what makes me angry. Abilify is a lifesaver for me. I cannot imagine not having the insurance to pay for it. I hope you can find a way.

... and crash. Time to call my doc. But at least the garage ceiling is clean. Sigh.

Hope you get help quick. So glad to know that you know the signs!

  • 3 weeks later...

I was diagnosed Bi-Polar II a few weeks before my surgery. They finally got me on meds that were working. Post-op, I vomit nearly every night, 30-minutes to an hour after taking my medication. Any advice? I have to take them at night as they exhaust me. Other than that, I'm open to anything.

I'm calling my doctors tomorrow for professional guidance. I would just like any advice.

Hi: Are you taking the meds with food?

Not with food, after dinner. Usually about 2-3 hours after.

Check the bottle. The only med I take that doesn't require it be taken with food is my klonopin.

I finality got a hold of my doctor. He asked that I lower my dose for 3-5 days and call back next week if I'm still having the problem. None of my medications said to take with food. I'll see what changes.
