    Introductions

Hello! My name is Nikki, and I got the sleeve on September 24th, 2013, the day before my 26th birthday. I am a single mother, a full-time employee, and a full-time student. I'm sure you can tell recovery has been hard on my own. I'm glad I've had my family to help out, but no one really understands what I'm going through, and I've got no one to share the difficult moments with (or the little successes). That is why I created this group! I hope you enjoy being a part of this group. Take care, and be well. =D
  2. Hi. My name is Nikki. I had the vertical sleeve on September 24th. I'm having a hard time navigating basic life with the sleeve. I used to use food as a reward to myself. I enjoy new foods, and now I'm having a hell of a time navigating life without it. I can't just ask a friend to lunch because I eat a few bites and I'm stuffed! I'd love someone to go to for advice and guidance. Let me draw on your experience and knowledge?
  3. I had the laparoscopic sleeve. Through my healed/healing incisions (3/4) my dissolving stitches are showing. Is this normal? I'm 12 days out, ago maybe it will go away? Thoughts?

    Bi-Polar Sleevers

I finality got a hold of my doctor. He asked that I lower my dose for 3-5 days and call back next week if I'm still having the problem. None of my medications said to take with food. I'll see what changes.

    Bi-Polar Sleevers

Not with food, after dinner. Usually about 2-3 hours after.

    Bi-Polar Sleevers

I was diagnosed Bi-Polar II a few weeks before my surgery. They finally got me on meds that were working. Post-op, I vomit nearly every night, 30-minutes to an hour after taking my medication. Any advice? I have to take them at night as they exhaust me. Other than that, I'm open to anything. I'm calling my doctors tomorrow for professional guidance. I would just like any advice.

    Surgery while in school

Hey, I'm doing an online class this month. I'm in a month to month university, and I did my final 3 days suffer my surgery with no problems. The final essay was a challenge, but may have been more me than the sleeve. The class I'm in now is requiring some work, but no more than usual. I am also a single-mom, and I've been able to keep up with her alone since 2 days out. Finally, I work full-time, and I go back tomorrow. We'll see, but there are a lot of mental and physical demands. I'm hoping it's fine. In conclusion, I'm sure you'll be okay. Try to get ahead if possible, but you'll be okay.

    when to stop? my answer

I can't wait to hear this! Even just one person who had no idea about my path. Lol. I know it is different than what you are going through, but it seems like a dream to me.

    Sleevers over 300lbs?

I stated at 301. Not much more, but figured I'd share to show support.

    Best Protein Bars

My biggest concern is sugar. I was diagnosed pre-diabetic pre-op and that is why I had the surgery. I don't want to make things worse.

    I'm new and I'd like a mentor?

Hey HoosierGirl, Thanks for the reply. It is good to know it is not just me! As questions arise, I'll let you know. Thank you for your help and support. I'll contact you with future questions.

    Hungry yet?

I'm nearly 2 weeks out and my stomach doesn't group, but my doctor put me on regular foods after a week. (I'm not sure how standard this is). I wonder if this is something I should expect?

    Who Are You?

Hi, I'm Nikki. I am a single mother to a wonderful 6-year-old girl. She is a big reason why I had the surgery. I was diagnosed pre-diabetic and I don't want to die before she is old and grey. I work full-time and am a full-time student. I'm very busy, generally. Not sure what to do with that, but I'm trying. I love to write and reading is a passion. I just wish I had more time for both. Loving to read is coming in handy, considering all of the textbooks I'm into. I love nature. I love to hike in the mountains and swim in the rivers. Camping is awesome, as is fishing and boating, and the beach, and everything outdoors. Well, I've never gone snowboarding or anything, but I know I love the snow, and snowmen are great to make. I enjoy walking and swimming a lot, but running is annoying. I don't like movies, but I love plays and music and interactive stuff. I'm learning to stop using food as a social gathering (I'm failing miserably). Hm. I could tell you more, but I really should get out of the house.
