Day 8 - ER visit

This morning I woke up feeling worse for wear and I posted this thread

http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/93159-day-8-feel-worse-not-better/

Well.... I went to my appointment, got my staples out with little fanfare. Got weighed, down 18 pounds since surgery... yay!! Then the PA hits me with "Your pulse rate is really high" so they checked it a couple more times. I had told her how I was feeling earlier so she calls the doc and they decide I'm dehydrated and need to go to the ER for IV fluids. When I get there they determine I have a pretty bad UTI (probably the back pain I've been experiencing) and that had led to my dehydration and higher pulse. I spent about 5 hours in the ER getting 2 bags of fluids and an antibiotic. Ugh.

I have REALLY been trying to stay on top of my intake and thought I was doing good! Guess not...lol. It was a good wake up call though and I'm glad my doc's office wanted to be on the safe side and get me checked at the ER. I would have hated to go all weekend, it would have just gotten worse more than likely. It's still SO SO hot where I live (TX) so I'm really going to have to keep an even closer eye on things.

Hope u r feeling better!

I can't imagine having a uti so soon after post op. It is already hard to drink enough water. Maybe try ice chips or really cold water. I know I can drink more water if it is super cold or chew ice.

Glad your doc was proactive. Hope the weekend is a healing and restful.
