My liquid pre-op diet was supposed to start on a Wednesday. Yeah, right. So I started the Saturday before to get through the carb withdrawal. Figured I could use the extra 4 days of weight loss. Worked really well for me. Doctor said my liver was really small and that made the surgery easier. Plus I had NO pain or complications after the surgery.

If you have the opportunity before the pre-op liquid diet, cut out sugar and caffeine. The first 3 days of liquids can be tough if you are going through sugar and caffeine withdrawal at the same time. I haven't eaten/drunk sugar/caffeine for years, so my pre-op liquid diet was pretty easy.

What are you using for the pre-op liquids? Most of the liquids can be pretty sweet, even the sugar-free Protein drinks. Recommend that you add in clear broths. Gives added liquids, and you will get energy from the salt.

Good luck on your journey. It's going to be amazing!

Thanks for the post! I'm going to begin my pre-op diet earlier now...during the weekend. I dreaded the idea of going through the motions at work. 8 days away now... :)
