You're not the only one; I was thinking about cancelling the surgery right up till they were putting me under! Fear is normal, you are about to make an enormous and permanent change in your life.

For me, the VSG hurt, it hurt a lot, I could feel the suture line on my stomach and the anesthesia made me sick so I was puking on top of the pain. But after those first few days things got quickly better.

If you are following the pre-op procedures and aren't deathly ill, the chances of anything bad happening during surgery are close to nil.

Follow your doctor's instructions carefully and know that you're not the only one who has gone through this, we're with you!!

I think we all feel the same way. I did anyways. I think it's very normal to be excited and scared.

Try to stay positive, think good thoughts. Take some before pictures and get ready for a new life.

I think everyone is scared for any kind of surgery. Just remember why you are doing this and keep your eye on the prize. What helps me is to think about after surgery. Being able to shop in regular stores and fit in regular shoes. Being able to do things you normally couldn't or had trouble with!
