Survived my first BBQ!

I am almost 4 weeks post op, and I had a big BBQ at my house tonight which I do regularly during the summer. I thought I might be miserable, cooking all this food and not being able to eat it. I actually had a great time. I was able to take a few bites of some things I enjoy, but I didn't miss the rest as much as I thought I would. I had about 40 people over, and it was nice to be able socialize without constantly sneaking in trips to the buffet to shove my face full. It gave me a lot of confidence that I can do this!

Way to go! It gets easier, especially once you get past any post op restrictions. I bbq'd some baby back ribs today. Stubbs has a bbq sauce that tastes pretty good and has very little sugar in it so the carbs are surprisingly low. I could only eat two little ribs (which really isn't that much) and a spoonful baked beans but it was enough to feel like I wasn't missing out on anything.

Amazing how much of life is different when it's not all about the food!

Congrats to you!

I too survived my first bbq but it was really difficult. I am only a week out from my sleeve so only on clear liquids. Thankfully they had jello and I could indulge in that a bit.
