New to this. Did you already have surgery and how's it going?

Yes I got sleeved at SAMMC(BAMC) by Dr.Harnisch on 11/07/2012 so I am just over 6 months out and doing well:) My BMI is down from 39.9 to 28.2 and I have lost 67 pounds since surgery which is decent for my starting point(I think)I am 26 pounds from goal and hope to be there by my 1 yr check up.

Hey,how is it going ?

Pretty good Kali-soreness starting to go away-had a 6 hr surgery to fix band damage and move to sleeve. My husband was a wreck I was suppose to stay longer in the hospital but worked hard to get out and get my husband home. He got upset because the staff did not talk to him after the 3 hrs dr Harnisch said it would take to.do the operation. He was beating on doors till someone would come to tell him something:):)

liquid diet is killing me:):). Dr Harnisch was just as you said and more. Can't wait for a little more variety in food:). Since the band needed to come out and I live a ways from sa now so he did the surgery but I still have two more nutrition meetings to get in-one this Tues and one at my one month check. How about you-in your post you seem to be doing well. You are a really pretty girl and your kids are adorable.

I can imagine your husband was a wreck my surgery went almost 2 hours past (I had weird anatomy)and my hubs was really anxious .

The liquid diet is terrible I lived off SF Popsicles during most of it just so I could chew .I am doing well now. I did have a return stay at hospital 1 month post op due to a real life "medical mystery" that resolved without need for any more surgery praise God.My loss has been slow and steady and Dr.H seems happy with my results thus far. I will say take your supplements bc I have struggled with Vitamin D and Iron deficiency and low potassium. I was taking a women's multi gummy that I did not realize had no Iron until my labs came back .

Thanks, I have some supplements but you put them in water and post op they have repulsed me-I'm going to try again....:)

Hey Kali, I am in the process of doing my check off sheet. I know Dr H. is deploying this summer have you heard anything about how good the other Dr. is?

I have not heard anything bad about any of the Drs. I am not sure who the other doctor you are referring to is they have experienced a lot of change in the last 6 months bc when I had Dr. H he was not the Chief Bariatric Surgeon it was another surgeon Dr.Dickerson who I assume left. That makes me think you are talking about Dr. Pfluke? If so then yes I have heard good things about Dr. Pfluke and he came in to check on me release me home bc Dr.H was at a Marathon. I was in the hospital 5days bc my swallow study was weird initially and then I was back in hospital about a month out and I was there another 9 days altogether and the Bariatric surgeons the nurses seemed the most impressed with were Dr.H and Dr. Pfluke bc both are meticulous about their patients according to nursing staff.

I just noticed your profile pic ...Are you who I think you are? We know each other don't we?

PA Schroeder mentioned Dr Pfluke was deployed but due back soon and that he thought Dr Dickerson was next to deploy????

Elissa you are probably right. It has been a little while since I went to the orientation. I thought there was only 2 surgeons. I think I got a little confused. :(
