Congrats! I have BCBS also. It's great insurance for covering the VSG. Best of luck to you for a speedy surgery date.

Have to agree on the awesomeness of BCBS insurance! The most I'll have to pay out of pocket is $1000 to have more years added on to my life by having this surgery! Worth every penny!

Thanks!!! I was so happy to get the approval. My out of pocket is a little high ($5050), with with the pre and post care support provided, it is well worth it!

Congrats all!

I'm so glad to know BCBS is good. I'm in the beginning stages so I'm happy to read this! I'm crossing my fingers BCBS will be good to me too.

Breederb hello! It looks like we have the same surgeon! How far are you in the process?

Great! I loved his seminar. I am a revision candidate. Dr Nick did not do my band another surgeon did and t had complications. Got approval to take that out. Still working on approval to get sleeved. Had my psych appt yesterday and I have my nutrition appt Tuesday then we submit for approval.

Have you had a consult yet? I love Dr Nick and hi office staff they are amazing! My other surgeon was rude and so were his staff.

I haven't had my consult yet but I already love Denise! I have sent her emails & she always responds quickly. She said with my comormidities (sp?) I shouldn't have an issue with BCBS. I am so ready to get the psyc eval done & any other hoops done so we can get this started. Has the process gone pretty quickly for you so far? I'm anxious to know what comes after the seminar.

I can't say that mine has been quick because of insurance issues. I had Cigna before and they wanted me to be dead or dying to even take out my band so this has been a 2 and a half year struggle. BUT I went to my consult on 4/11 and they had to submit for approval to get the band out. Insurance approved on 5/2 the removal and denied the sleeve on 5/7 due to no nut or psych and some other ppwk. We knew that would happen but they wanted to be sure of the requirements before I started jumping through hoops. So I had Psych appt Friday 5/17 and nut appt will be 5/21. Then resubmit for sleeve approval. So it has been relatively quick since consult considering... So I will say that they will give you a list of recommended people to do your Nut and psych and the majority are one month out but I called everyone on the list because I cannot afford to wait one month as my insurance will change 7/1 of this year :( So I saw Dr. Patrick for Psych he got me in within 1 week and he was great! Also for Nut I am going to the Forrest park dietitians bc they got me in within 1.5 weeks. Hope that helps if you are looking for quick turnaround. Insurance took 1.5 weeks to review original sleeve request so I expect it will be about the same when we resubmit next week. Good luck and I look forward to hearing about your journey :)

OMGosh, what a struggle! I hope it goes better for you now. Will you be able to have the band removed & the sleeve done at the same time?

I'm hoping to have a quick turn around time as I have met my deductible & it starts over in September. The office doesn't think it will take that long. Thanks for the names!

Thanks, it will be done in two surgeries at least 1week apart so by the end I will have had 3 surgeries but I am ready to take the risks to get the tool that will help me be successful. Be sure let me know how it goes at he seminar!

Oy! I'm sorry you're looking at 3 surgeries. You are right, your new tool WILL be worth it & YOU will be successful!!!! Let's stay in touch so I'll know how you are doing. :)

Oh! Sorry I mean surgery #1 was putting in the band so I only have two surgeries to go lol thanks and I will :)
