I suggest making you oatmeal really liquidy so it can down easily. I am on soft foods as well and all I eat is really watered down soup and mashed potatoes. I can't really have solid foods until June 10th, it has something to do with the healing of my stomach. But try making your food as soft and watery as possible, that should help. It's working for me.
