Due to the craziness of surgery, I decided to pay for lap-band out of pocket and fight with the insurance company and just wait it out. I'm new here, my name is andrea and I'm from Connecticut. I'm hoping to get some info. I was a little nervous about my surgeon's price for the fills, but found a place that does it for a lot less expensive, so that's a positive! I did the same thing. I knew I was going to have to jump through hoops and I didn't want to wait 6 more months and gain more weight so I went to Mexico and got mine done for 8500.00 for everything. I was quoted anywhere from 23000 to 36000 here in the states and I just didn't have that kind of money. But, I had a wonderful experience and very very pleased with my surgery. I was bmi 38.5 so blue cross won't even consider u unless u have diabetes, high blood pressure,etc. I surely didn't want to gain 20 lbs. more to get to 40bmi. That's why i opted for monterrey mexico. I have no regrets. Lots of bandsters have done the mexico route. Check it out.
