What will I look like?!

Recommended Posts

I remember asking myself this alot, what will I look like when I lose the weight, what will a good weight be for me, how can I expect my clothes to fit, etc. I found awhile ago, a really great and fun website:

http://www.mybodygallery.com/

it is just like it sounds — a searchable database of (mostly anonymous) photographs of women, tagged with their self-described height, weight, body shape, and dress sizes. "A recent study found that 95% of non-eating disordered women overestimate the size of their hips by 16% and their waists by 25%, yet the same women were able to correctly estimate the width of a box," explain the founders. "In a world full of images of how we 'should' look it can get difficult to tell how we DO look."

I think it's a rally good site to visit along this journey as well. I have been losing so much weight so fast, I still feel much bigger than I actually am, so seeing other people, the same height and general shape as me at the same weight is a really good way for me to guage what I actually look like. It's also excited to check out smaller weights and guestimate what I will look like when I'm done plus a few extra rolls of skin...;) but you get the point! Try it!

I found that site a while ago and its so cool to look at! It really gives you such a good idea how weight, pants size and shape vary SO much! Its great to look at to understand how its so subjective. When people say 'I want to be a a size 6' you can see how there really is NO one size fits all 6 and how it varies so much.

Such an interesting site! Thanks for bringing it here! :)

I agree! So many factors to consider! People's body frame:sm, m, or lg? Fat vs. muscle. People with higher muscle content will look thinner because muscle is dense and compact, versus fat that is more volume-ess, less dense, and requires a lot more of to have an equivalent weight to muscle.

However, it was a really neat site and I did find a person of similar body frame size that matched my own. Thanks for sharing :D

That's a pretty cool site even if I didn't enjoy the pics I got when I put my stats in there.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
