Pre-op diet. When to start?

I'm waiting on my approval and date. If all goes well I'm looking at middle of June. When do the Dr. have you to start pro op diet?

Mine started 2 weeks (13 days since my appt was Weds) prior to surgery. I'm on Day 3 today and so far so good!

Mine, too....two weeks and I am on day 4 :(

I needed to lose a LOT of weight before surgery in order to get my BMI down to under 49.. I started an 800 calorie a day, low carb diet on December 1st and my surgery was not until March 13th. I'm so glad I did because it really helped me get used to eating small portions and I got a nice jump start on losing weight.

Most preop diets are 2 weeks.. some are four weeks, some are 1 week... some people don't have any preop diet at all... it all depends on your doctor, your BMI, and if you have any indicators in your blood work that you may have a fatty liver.
