**May 31st**

Just got my date --- Friday, May 31st. Excited, scared, anxious, hopeful, ready! I go in for my pre-op testing and class on May 20th. I'm required to do a 3 day liquid diet prior to surgery so Memorial Day will be my last hurrah although not planning on doing anything stupid. Praying that everything goes smoothly and that I'm healthy (and maybe smoking hot) by summer 2014!!! I've been working out with a personal trainer for a couple years now - 3x/week - so pretty good on the exercise front. Hope I can dive back in not too long after surgery. I'm kinda anxious about never getting to eat some of my favorite foods perhaps ever again but fit and healthy will surely taste soooo much better.

Congrats to my fellow May sleevers - looking forward to giving and receiving support as we continue on our journeys. :-)

1 week from today we will all be sleeved!!! I plan to take my phone and post as soon as I can after surgery. Would love to hear from each of you as well. Found some protein powder today that I like and can mix it with water. Hoping I can get the stuff down after surgery!!! Have been reading a lot of the post surgery posts and sounds like folks hit a stall in week 3 if they aren't getting enough protein/calories down. Just want to do this already!!! :)

Mizzougirl, good luck on surgery I had mine on may 20 I am feeling good Protein shakes have been hard to get down and they tasted fine before. I just grabbed some protein shots. Only 3 ounces and 26 grams of protein. Where in missouri do u live?

I live near lake of the ozarks.

Hi AngRN, can u share your story and any advice for us "soon to be" sleevers?

I'm traveling the journey with you. This time next week I would have been sleeved too. I have been thinking about the surgery quite a bit. Im working hard at being positive and excited. I spent today learning how to sip in little quantities. Its awkward but I am going to keep working at it. I start the liquid diet in the morning.

If you all can try to relax and envision your new healthy you. Take deep breaths and enjoy your journey.

Kailisa, glad you're joining us! One more week and we are all going to have our stories to tell. That's great that you are teaching yourself to sip. I think that's a little hard to do, but post surgery we will all be doing that for sure! I love your positive attitude! I've been on my liquid diet for one week ( I have a 2 week total preop) and it gets easier after the first few days. I took a lot of acetaminophen those first three days to help with the headaches :-)

I'm a May 31st sleever too! I'm in KC

ksredhead, where do you live in KC? KS or MO? I live in Wichita, but all my children live in Overland Park and I visit them a lot!! (May move there soon). I am excited to have someone close by in KS and MO (Mizzougirl) to share the journey with!

Mizzougirl, I bought protein shots on Groupon.

MizzouGirl, I got the protein shots at Walmart they are body fortress which was on my list of protein sources from my surgeon. They are fruit punch flavor. I don't see alot of Missouri sleevers here it would be great to keep in touch.

Wags,

I was sleeved on May 20. I got to the hospital at 5:30 am. Went to surgery at 7 am. Total time in surgery was about 45 minutes. I was in my room at about 10 am. I set a goal to be up and walking at noon. I took my first walk at 12:30. I had alot of nausea from anesthesia, but received medication for it Zofran then Phenergan. I walked a total of 5 times day of surgery. I was discharged at 2 pm on May 21. I have been feeling really good. Just a little sore. Went back to sleeping in my own bed right away using a pillow to splint my stomach( I am a side sleeper). I have not had a big problem getting in my fluids. The Protein shakes I liked on preop diet did not sit well with my stomach(made me a little nauseated) so I went and got the protein shots.

Good Luck May 31st sleevers!

Day 10 of my Pre-op. Really hard day. Stuck to my plan so far but it was SO hard! Went to the Royals/Cardinals game. So much food, food smells, etc. I'm not hungry at all, but I just wanted to EAT!!

Well done sticking to the plan. That was a lot of temptation and not easy I'm sure. We are almost there!!!!
