Easing my body into the liquid diet. Help!

Recommended Posts

My surgery is scheduled for May 16th (WOOOHOOOO!) and I am so excited I can't stand it. I've been mulling this decision over for a few years now and watched four of my friends go through the process last year, all of them very successful but all of them with various pre-op diets. None of them had to do the two week liquid diet pre-op as I do, one of them actually had to do nothing at all. She ate like a piglet right up till the night before. :faint:

I am pretty physically active now for a fat girl. I do martial arts 3-4 times a week and for my job, I am from one extreme to another. I am either walking all day or sitting on my fat ass in front of a computer for six hours. I work from home, so I try to do computer work on martial arts day and vice versa. I've not yet gotten the details of my pre-op diet (that will be next Thursday), but I figure I have two weeks to start easing myself into the transition.

I am extremely obsessive compulsive, so I want to make sure I am setting myself up for success and not going overboard too fast.

I am thinking I am going to start substituting a Protein Shake for Breakfast each morning starting today.

EAS Carb Advantage

110 calories

4 carbs

17 Protein

1 Fiber

For lunch, it's easiest to buy a roasted chicken breast, add in some veggies, and I really need to throw some carbs in there while I wean myself off.

For dinner, repeat lunch but with a different protein.

If I can hang on to this for a few days, I will have the same breakfast, same lunch, and swap out dinner for another Protein shake.< /p>

I am most worried about my heavier physical days. I do not want to break down and eat the house down as I am prone to do on the days I swim laps for a few hours. I also don't want to feel weak and dizzy during the big martial arts testing day I have coming up halfway through my two weeks hence my need to prep myself. I am truly tired of setting myself up for failure as I am sure most of us have experienced in this never ending yo-you fat person world.

Thoughts? Tips? What worked for you?

Also, my family doctor gave me a script for phentermine and I love it. If anyone has used this, were you allowed to do so during your two week phase? I'm so scared to give up all my crutches, but I **WILL** do what I have to do to get to the finish line.

I did the same thing, shake for breakfast 4oz of Protein with salad for lunch and the same for dinner. Then 3 weeks before surgery I was required to do my pre-op diet, I would have a shake for breakfast, a shake for lunch and 4 oz of Protein and salad for dinner. I lost 50 pounds pre op.

BUT I did not take any diet pills, check with your surgeon, they may affect your surgery.

Good Luck and be safe!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
