Bizarre trend?

  • Popular Post

Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed the huge amount of people that "regret" this surgery?

I mean extreme regret? Not just the first couple of days of "**** this hurts what did I do" kind of stuff..

What gives? Why?

Just a thought, but maybe VSG has become the trend and people are leaping without doing enough looking? Or perhaps the food addiction part isn't truly being addressed preop? Maybe expecting a magical

I can't speak for others, but as it applies to me... I needed to be just "over" food as a hobby and recreation and emotional support and whatever else I thought it gave me before I was ready for the s

I dunno Laura, I think it has to do mostly with the mental and physical aspects of going through all this. One of the things that I notice that might contribute to the regret thing is that a lot is t

Girl next time I start a thread you better read all 13 pages! :P

Oh and remember once its in your mouth, you will swallow!

Lol I need the cliff notes!!!

Parents are complicated!!! I asked my mom out to eat - just to spend time with her and she asked how much I planned to eat!!! I was like really??? I just want to see how are things. Then she asks if I'm moving back in? Uhh, i love my folks but small doses are enough, I can only imagine the ordeal of eating at home. I think they could make me regret my decision. But so far so good. The only thing I've found is when I tell people I went to Mexico they feel I either cheated to get it done quickly or that I'm insane for going to such a horrible place (sad thing is, I'm a Mexican !). They don't seem to understand that for me this was the best choice and only choice at this point. No regrets.

Many might be having surgery for the first time, and don't realize how it affects the body and how long it takes to recover. Then we have the change of eating habits added to this to make it harder.

  • 2 weeks later...

I am just waking up to my fourth day post-op. I can't say that I regret it but I am hurting. I did not expect to be so uncomfortable. I came home yesterday and wanted to go go go and my body said sit the hell down. I just vomited for the first time because I drank to much water trying to get a pill down. I am so excited at what lies ahead of me, it is just getting through these next few weeks that I believe will be my greatest struggle.

I can't imagine getting in all the water and shakes I have to because I have no desire to put anything in my mouth. I am guilty of not asking enough people what this would be like... I didn't want to get talked out of it. The few people that are a ways out post op all had great things to say and I am just trying to keep it positive!

The sleeve like any wls is painful. You have to really do your homework before committing to it. If you go into this half committed you've already taken a step back. Its worth the pain of healing.
