That's how much the surgery cost was. So glad my insurance covered it all after my $5 copay :)

Yep, I am a self payer. $18K iin US Worth each and every penny, seriously.

I had BCBS PPO insurance and they did not cover VSG surgery back in Sept 2010. BCBS PPO considered VSG experimental surgery at that point.

Would I pony up the $$$ again. YES.

The kicker to this story is BCBS starting covering VSG surgery...wait for this, Oct 1, 2010. Lucky me. Yes, I fought it & lost appeal twice. But I save a lot of food bill. :)
