Try Magnesium Citrate. It's available at walgreens. drink it cold to mask the taste. Taste like unsweetened flavored drink. It will work when nothing else does. I used it when I had my knee replacement surgery. The constipation was worse pain than the knee recovery. Works in like 30-60 minutes. Ask your doc about it. It is over the counter.

Miralax is a laxative' date=' as well, correct? It says it dissolves in 4-8 oz of Water or any liquid. I would imagine if mixing in only 4 oz of water, it would be thicker to drink, so can you sip it slowly and take awhile to drink the whole thing? Crazy questions, I know, but I get nervous about drinking stuff that may be thick.[/quote']

I usually mix the Miralax into 32 ounces of flavored water. Do not even notice it is there. Be sure to flavor the water in order to cover up the aftertaste. I do not think Miralax is a laxative in the same sense as, say, senna because it works differently. Miralax basically attracts water into the colon to soften up the stool where senna is more of a chemical process.
