Hi there. I live in Alaska...and am trying to find someplace that will take an xray to make sure I did not slip at all. I was told of a doc in Anchorage, Dr. Cable, that does fills. but I have lost his info and am trying to look for it!

I live in Anchorage, ALASKA. I am 11 months out and have a wonderful fill doctor here. I had surgery in Mexico and most of the Docs here won't touch you. However, I have the best fill Dr. Dr. Leland Jones of Medical Park Family Care will do lap band patients and doesnt care where you had your surgery. He charges $195 which is the cheapest I have found. He doesnt use fluro but if you need xrays or whatever he will set you up. His phone number is (907) 279-8486, His office is on corner of Lake Otis and Northern Lights. Never takes long to get in to see him. I can call one day and get in the next to see him. He is not conservative with fills as long as you arn't having problems. I have a 9cc band with 6.8cc's in it now. Email me if you need more information.

My mother is going to be thrilled to see there are others in Anchorage that have done it and to have people in her area to talk to about this...

I had my band done 9/1/05 in Mexico. I live in ALaska and see Dr Cable at HEalth South. He is awesome. It is really expensive they just raised their prices up to 638.00... I have spent more money maintaining my band then I did on the surgery. I have esophagitis issues so I have to open and close my band a lot.

I went to see Dr Leland Jones and he is great. My band was a little to tight went back the next day to have it readjusted and he said if you are still uncomfortable you come back and have it adjusted again. Don't feel bad coming back again. I thought that was great. I will be going back to him. The cost is $225 for the adjustment. Lowest price I have found in Anchorage!

It is nice to see some alaskans with bands doing well. I got mine in 9/05 and need to see a local fill doctor. It sounds like Medial Park and Dr. Cable are the best options. Anyone know of anyone else. Thank you.

I live in Nome and have used Dr. Jones as my fill doc since I was banded 7/07. He's great, but insists that if you come from out of town that you stay for a few days just in case there are complications. I know he'll "tweak" the fill for free if it's within the week. He and I have had GREAT communication at our visits and he does what I want.

I don't know how the other docs in Anc do it, but Dr. Jones uses a small needle...cleans the area with alcohol, shoots it in and it's done...other docs do a whole prep thing that seems a bit tedious (and I work in healthcare!).

To note: I was going through Anc. a couple of weeks ago and was going to get a fill, but Dr. Jones was out of the office....bummer! So I called around (Dr. Searle, Dr. Todd, and the x-ray place that does the flouros) the docs were about $400 to set up and $200 for the fill, the x-ray place was going to be about $800....FYI.

I was lucky enought to get a doc (Dr. Lawrence) out here in Nome to do my fills (he'll do them at the hospital or at my home). Our first fill together was a little crazy (finding the right spot), but things are good now and I have no trouble being the guinea pig for him...if it allows others to get fills out here without having to go to Anc. to do it.

I am in Anchorage as well. I haven't had my band yet but am in the process of doing so. My insurance(Tricare) has referred me to Doctor Todd on Debar. Has anyone else used him as their doc? Thanks Jennifer

talkalot - my SIL had surgery w/ Dr. Todd back in January and had her first fill last month. She was/is very pleased with him...although her insurance takes care of all the costs. I haven't heard anything negative about him.

Thanks for letting me know. My insurance will only let me use Dr. Todd. Not sure why but if I want to switch I might have to pay things out of pocket. I know he has a COD(code of excellence) I guess that might be the reason they referred me to him. I didn't do much research on surgeons because I knew my insurance would referr one to me. I was supposed to have several to choose from but I guess there are slim pickens here in Alaska. Thanks Jennifer

This is great to know when I come up to Anch. in Feb, God forbid I run into problems, I know what docs to look for.

Cheers!
