So surgery is tomorrow!!! I should be really happy and excited but all I can think about is eating a REAL lunch (since I have to go Clear Liquids after 4). I've been on basically a liquid diet for the past 2 weeks (not to say that I have followed that 100%...it's harder than I thought). My husband and my support system is trying to talk me out of my real lunch today (as he probably should) but I find myself getting mad at him!!! Anyone else feel this way before surgery?!?

My doctor had a 10 day pre-op diet, so I didn't get that last lunch. If your doctor is ok with real good for lunch, I don't see why you shouldn't. I would pick what you want and eat a smaller portion.

Your husband may not be able to understand or relate with everything going on with your emotions. You are almost there, tomorrow you get help fighting your war! :) Best of luck!

Yeah, my doctor had a very strict 2 week preop liquid diet so I don't think he'd be ok with it...I just feel like I NEED it physically and emotionally. Maybe it's stress about tomorrow....I've always been a stressful eater.

I would eat your last lunch if your doctor is okay with it. Your emotions will go through quite a bit in the next few weeks due to your surgery. However, it is worth it! Good luck tomorrow. Enjoy your lunch!!!

I gotcha. I would hunker down and follow the dr.'s instructions, and I know it it is really tough! But your doc's pre-op diet goes with his/her best practices. So there is a reason. Your surgery will have the best chances of no complications following the rules! Use the pre-op diet is specifically designed to shrink the fat around your liver.

I have been out to eat many times in the 4 weeks since I was sleeved. Most of them, not being able to eat anything, and having to watch others eat the foods I love. However..,something I realized that is helping me...is that after everyone eats...the food is gone. It is a temporary satisfaction. Do after the meal is over, i don't feel cheated.

Plus...the guilt from cheating lasts a lot longer than the high I get from cheating.

You can do it!!! Walk into the hospital knowing that you killed it today! :)

O I hate to say it... But please be strong today!

Your surgery is tomorrow. And I promise you you will eat again this is not forever. You need to start clearing your system now.

You can do it.

Stay strong,

Laura :)

I was right there with you. I kept to the liquid diet and let me tell you it was hard!!
Now I have had surgery my is Bypass Surgery and I am 6 days in. I cannot keep anything down, I burp and it is the nastiest taste there is. I have kept down watery cream of wheat only a 1/2 cup and I actually get full before eating all of it.
It is easy for them to say don't eat that etc. I only want to taste good stuff, but I know I can't I just want some eggs bit I will wait. Stay strong!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
