I'd like to know my legal rights when the time comes to eat out. Does anyone know a lawyer they can ask. I have pre paid legal and will ask also. I did get a card from my doctor

Audree, you always have the most interesting posts. I went out and bought my walking shoes today. So I'm ready to go... Did you have a problem wearing pj's? Should I only take gowns? I have a weird question, what happens if you get the flu? I guess I'm worried I would dislodge the band. Can anyone help me on this?

I took pj's just for the hotel stay. They put you in a hospital gown. Also, for the hospital, I wore there what I wore back. Just my toothbrush.

If you get the stomach flu, Dr. Ortiz said to go to emergency imediately and tell them to give you a shot. I am going to go to my primary doctor and tell them my situation and get a prescription for supposotories and pills for anti vomitting. Vomitting can dislodge the band so that is why they had to check me under fleuro. Thank God i was good!Audree

Hi everybody! I'm having my operation on Friday and can't wait. I did just have a bit of a downer conversation with my bff who told me that somebody she knows got banded in either August or october and hasn't lost a single pound. Up until now it hasn't occurred to me that this could actually fail. I'm going to chock it up to one of those stupid things people say when they don't know better.

Glad to join the jan bandwagon!

Carole

My doctor said that the band is made out of silicone, like a breat implant or any surgical implant, which the material has the least amount of rejection from the body. He said it can stay permanently, which I plan on leaving it there, God willing! Mexico was great! The Hotel Lucerna was fantastic! The restaurants in the hotel had the best chicken broth I ever had, home made I think. I loved it! Where is Hidalgo? I am Mexican and my husband is Puerto Rican.

Audree

I believe it's about 2 1/2 hours from Mexico City. He grew up in Senora, MX. I bet the chicken broth was good...I made caldo de pollo last night and it's really good. I made it extra spicy w/ chile guajillo, but I made some without chile guajillo and put it in the freezer for next week. Oh I used Better Than Bouillon and chicken broth and it taste like I cooked chicken in it.

Be BLESSED!

I don't know where Hidalgo is in Mexico, but I love Hidalgo jewelry...and I know where to get it. lol

lol...it's a city in Mexico. I've never heard of Hidalgo jewelry. I'm gonna look it up.

Hey All,

Glad to hear everyone is doing well so far. Thanks for all the good tips and insights for those have been banded.

Audree - as far as skin brushing goes, my friend is a physical therapist and does something similar for some of her kids. Her nephew was nervous about starting pre-school and my friend had her sister and nieces "brush" him several times a day and it really helped. I don't know the science behind it.

Well, just a few short days until Wednesday and the big day. I'll keep y'all posted on how it goes.

BTW - my dr said no driving for FIVE days! That seems like an awful long time for the meds to still be in my system. Does anyone else have similar restrictions on their driving post-op?

Sheila, it's beutiful and expensive. I like the wedding band w/interchangable color bands. I have champagne tastes on a beer budget, lol.

I can have have yogurt on day 4, is that what they told you? Is that why they let you have skinny cow on day 4. I am going to email my nutrionalist. I want sooomee! Audree

I was allowed to have things like yogurt, pudding, hot cereals, protein shakes and all that fun stuff on day 3. My nutriontionist just happened to call me today and I told her I was craving cheese and she suggested the Laughing Cow stuff just because if it's creamy consistency. She told me I can have regular cheese on day 8.

My doctor didn't say anything about driving, and I forgot to ask, but I was okay to drive a pretty significant distance yesterday on day 3 post op. Did you doctor restrict you because of meds or because of possible physical limitations due to the incisions? Had it not been for the tenderness I would have driven home from the hospital lol

:clap2:

I'll be banded January 22nd! Whee!

I'm new to this forum and thankful I found it, 9 more days and I'll be going for my surgery. Everything has been approved by BCBS....I know this is what I need to do but very nervous. Anyone that can give me hints about what to expect after surgery would be appreciated.

My starting weight is 308 and my goal is 150lbs so I know I have a long journey ahead of me but am encouraged that this time my family will see less of me.

Anyone who would like to email me, pls don't hesitate.

Hello to all! I go to my seminar on Friday and I am told that I could have surgery by the end of January since I have already an upper GI etc... I had my gallbladder removed at the end of October and wish I would have done this at the same time! At least I have an idea on what to expect for pain. I am a self pay so I won't be waiting for insurance approval. There is a direct exclusion in the policy. I have been reading posts here for the past 2-3 weeks and I am anxious and nervous to get this done.

Hi Reesh,

Welcome, it's a real good forum with both veterans and newbies. My surgery is scheduled for Jan. 18th in Michigan. So, we will be going through this journey together..
