choosing for self pay

Recommended Posts

I am looking at being banded in the next month or so, I finally have enough money saved up- but I am hearing that in some parts of the country I can get a lap band for much less than I can in Washington State (17-18,000)

Does anyone know of a good surgeon in the states that does this for less? I would have my fills and follow ups in Washington-

Thanks for any help you can give

If you wanting to have it done in Mexico they charged me 8500. but if your wanting it in the states I have one of the best fill doctors in the world and lots of people on here go to him and he does the bands and lots of them. If I'm not mistaken he charges 13,000. I can give you his web site if your interested. Good luck.

Mysherrijo- thanks for your reply- I am a bit afraid of having my surgery done in Mexico- Id love the cost break but I hear so many negative scarey comments. I really dont want to hurt myself in the process. I would love to have a refferal to your surgeon, first because he sees mexico patients and also because it sounds like he has done a good job for you. Also, I think its pretty cool that you were at the exact same weight I am now- hopefully I will have the same great results you have.

Thanks again for your help.

Centennial Center for the Treatment of Obesity in Nashville, TN does lap-bands for $14,400. That is a surgery with no complications, of course.

The doc im going to use in the next month or so is GREAT.

He's in Texas , San Antonio . He charges $12,000 for self pay . Includes

surgeon, anesthesiologist, Lap Band and surgery center fees.

Also includes Lap Band Fills, adjustments, and follow-up visits up to one year.

I can give you the name /email of someone who had surgery with him less than a few months ago . He's really great.

The thread is titled "Reasonably Priced Doctors for Self Payers".

Houston has several great surgeons and a brand-new Hospital dedicated to lap banding; my surgery in September was $15K.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
