Just got my pre and post diets

Wow. Dr. Kellys office just sent my diet info. Pre- not so bad. 3 days liquid..a fine puree once a day. (Lower bmi)

Post- whew whee..I can see the challenge here. 1 week clears and juice. 2 more weeks of liquids Not even any protein shake or yogurt for 10 days?? Then..purees til week 5. Ok there. But 10 days with no protein. Wow...I'll suck it up. Lol (no pun intended) but I think I'm gonna be HUNGRY with nothing to provide a full feeling. (Groan)

There are clear protein drinks, my surgeons office sells them. They were a lifesaver!!

I tried isopure..icky. lol but my instructions say NO protein for 10 days. Even Nectars. UNLESS I begin to feel lethargic. Which is probable after a few days. Lol

I was going to ask if yours mentioned lethargy as a signal to revisit the protien. I'm on clear liquids in prep for Saturday now! You'll do just fine.

The first week I couldn't stomach protien drinks but my energy levels were still pretty good but I don't think that's the norm. Since day 8 I have been able to get in a protien drink a day. On day 14 I was able to drink two a day. The idea that you won't feel hunger is something I think you can't truly understand until post op. I definitely feel deprived sometimes but not hungry.

Wow! Best wishes to you for Saturday! Let us know how it goes. I'm excited for you! Yes, it does mention beginning the Protein early if lethargic. I will be returning to work day 10 and don't wanna be a slug. Lol

Sara, thanks. I'm sure it'll be fine. I certainly won't starve in 10 days..I have a few reserve tanks : ). I was just surprised as so many are on protein drinks just a couple days post. My mom went home same day on "whatever was tolerable, no restrictions" gasp!!

Hi,

I am having sleeve surgery in March 2014, can you share the pre and post op diet information I want to be prepared, or do I have to wait for his office to send it to me?

Heather

That's almost exactly what my plan was. Sounded horrendous but honestly it wasn't so bad. But I did want anything non sweet towards the end. I began to rely heavily on unjury chicken Soup Protein Powder. Was a fantastic change.

Also, ask If you can have Isopure. That's clear and many will allow that during the 2nd stage of clears.

At my 1 month post op appt, I had lost 30% already.
