Check with your surgeon.

In the case of Ambien, no. One of the side effects of Ambien is night eating, sleep walking, etc. , with amnesia the next morning.

When I was at the hospital, they gave me sleeping pills. I am continuing my ambien on days when I can't get my brain to shut off...just wish I didn't have to crush them(1week postoperative)
