Protein Shakes

My doctor has been trying to encourage me to use the Bariatric Protein Shake mix but I have found some from the Vitamin shop that seem to be very close to what he wants me to use. The cost is a lot better as well. Anyone have thoughts on different protein mixes?

use what you can afford, six star elite is good, walmart has it for less than $20, whey tech is good frim vitamin shoppe, but it costs more

Six star elite is very good!! 30gm protein per scoop. I've tried a few and its by far the best one I've had. Gold standard 100% whey at GNC is pretty good also. Not as much protein as the six star elite.

The best protein for you is a pure whey protein isolate. Whey concentrates aren't bad either.

If you are shopping at The Vitamin Shoppe, I'd highly recomend Nectar® by Syntrax. They even carry individual packets there so you can experiment with flavors before buying a big container of it. I personally like the fuzzy navel, cherry, and truffle flavors.

I heard that a lot of Protein powders are very fattening. Do you know if this is true?

This is kinda tricky. Protein is about 100calories per 20g. Many "protein powders" aren't just protein, many are meal substitutes or weight gainers designed gor high endurance athletes. Also, a very common mistake is that people tend to consume too much at one time. Too often I read people drinking a sake hat has 50g of protein. That is about double the amount that your body can use at one time. So really they are consuming double the necessary calories for the benefit.

It's all about reading labels.

I love my protein shakes... I am drinking , EAS myloplex 42g of protein in the 20oz, premixed no sugar... I love them... I haven't had surgery yet, scheduled on Jan 8, the dietician recommended them and they work.

I like EAS myloplex.. 42g of protein in a 20oz bottle.. No sugar, 13.00 for 4, I love them. Works well for me.

I like the RTD premier protein shakes from sams club. 11 oz has 30 gram of protein and it taste pretty good.
