Ouch! Stinging Pain!

I'm 5 weeks out and a couple of days ago I started having this stinging pain on my left side that starts at the top of my rib cage and goes down to one of my incisions. It's worse when I bend or sit. The pain is not on top of my skin but beneath. Has anyone had similar pain?

Are you still having the pain? If it's constant, call your doctor and/or nurse to get some guidance.

I had something similar a couple days post-op after having a coughing fit. It was 12:30 a.m. and scared the living crap out of me! I called my nurse practitioner and she asked if I had tried to drink anything. I told her no that I was afraid to. She said to try and drink something and if it happened again to call her back, but I had most likely just strained something. It didn't come back after staying up for a couple hours sipping Water...and it never did re-occur.

A few days later when I was at my initial follow-up with my surgeon I recapped it for him, and he said it was a spasm, and not to worry about it. I haven't had that pain again, but I know I will NEVER forget it. It felt like someone was stabbing an ice cold icepick into my abdomen. I was scared I had pulled a staple....but I'm fine now.

I am still hurting but it does seem better today. I guess maybe I did strain something. Hopefully it will continue to get better. Thanks!

I'm 4 weeks out today and have been feeling the exact same thing for 2 days now. I'll feel it a few times a day. It's such an odd feeling.

I am having the same pain im 3 weeks And 3 days post op. Have a stabbing pain under my left rib cage. Started back to work three days ago pain started 2 days ago.

At 2 weeks post-op I started getting a burning pain at my largest incision and nurse said it was nerve pain. I started on Gabapentin and it went away. The Gabapentin causes blurred vision so I can't take it during the day because I'm back to work. I take it every night and on weekends. During the day the pain comes back. :(
