What Size Is Your Sleeve?

Recommended Posts

Today at my post op appointment I asked my surgeon: "Everyone has different size stomachs, how do you know how much to cut?" He said: that he inserts a tube in the stomach and he staples around it, this way all his patients have the same size stomach. He said your sleeve is the size of a hot dog.

Yes it has nothing to do with the original size of your stomach. My surgeon uses a 32F Bougie. The bougie is the guide used to cut the size of the stomach. It is a small size: I think 28F is the smallest.

Dr Alvarez has a video that explains stomach size. He said that some people have longer stomachs so of course they will have a larger stomach than someone with a shorter stomach. He also shows a surgery how he staples up close to the bougie.

My surgeon used a 34 bougie, stapled and oversewn.

Didn't listen when my surgeon said what size thingy he uses. But I believe my stomach must be longer than most because I can eat more than most. And still lose weight! How awesome is THAT??

I was just told mine was the size of a medium egg...Which I wonder sometimes because I had my surgery Nov. 2nd and 3 weeks and 2 days later I can eat a Talipia (fish) filet and small sweet potato patty (the circular patty is about the size of the bottom of a bisquit can) . Sometimes I wonder if that's more than I should be able to eat. However sometimes it varies and I can only eat half of the Talipia filet.

Mine is a size 32. We were told at the WLS that our tummy, prior to surgery, is about the size of a deflated football. How can this NOT be a success??? 85% is removed...forever! I think you'd have to TRY and fail to do so. I guess if you drink your calories, milk shakes, beer (not to mention this is carbonated), margariteas, drinks high in sugar, juices etc.....eat Twinkies, if you can find them.....ice cream, french fries......I seriously believe it would take some effort!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
