Hi, I was sleeved 11/14. Want to warn everyone pre-op, make sure you buy your stool softener ahead of time like your doctor tells you, and start using it as soon as you leave the hospital.
I ignored this advice, since I've always been extremely regular. Figured if issues developed, I would just deal with them then. Boy was I wrong!
Take the trauma of surgery, add a highly concentrated protein diet, then add not being able to get a lot of water in after surgery, then top with narcotic pain meds and BAM! I ended up at my local ER this morning for an emergency enema and almost had to be de-impacted! And that was AFTER 12 hours of hell at home!!
So buy the stool softener, TRY to get water in, walk, and wean of the narcotics as soon as you can. And maybe buy and keep a couple suppositories at home just in case!!
