Bmi Question

So, just started my 6 month diet required by insurance. My question is this....my BMI is currently 41. If I do my 6 month diet that the insurance requires, loose weight and fall below my 40 BMI requirement, will insurance still approve me? Anyone with any experience on this? Thanks!

It depends on your Dr. My clinic went by the bmi of the initial visit. She said some are different.

My clinic also went by the BMI from the initial visit.

Thanks y'all. My current BMI is 41, but throughout the last 3 years, it has dropped to 39.

jsayles, good luck with yours and keep me posted!

i also was worried about this but my doctor said it went by initial bmi, and the diet was just to show that you are willing to stick with the diet and to show that you are commited to changing and to help lower risk during the surgery.
