Considering Surgery

I am considering this weight loss surgery for myself. My Mom had an old school gastric bypass almost 10 years ago, it hasn't gone well for her, so I am hesitant. My insurance covers it. I am female, I currently weigh 240 and I am 5'6. I'd love to have some advice on if this is worth it. I have struggled my whole life to keep my weight down, and have never been successful.

I had my surgery 10 weeks ago and for me it was the best decision I have ever made for myself. Like you I have yo yo'd my entire life and tried almost every diet and every cleanse. My only wish is that I had this surgery done years ago. I am 39 and I finally said enough is enough- it isn't going to get any easier the older I get and there seems to be a pattern here that I just can't break. I also have been seeking mental help because I want to make sure that my eating habits aren't emotional ones and if they are I need to take care of them before I sabotage my future with my sleeve. I think you are making a decision you only know the answer to. But I think you will find the majority of the folks on here are very happy with their progress. I think you will be amazed if you go through with it. One of the best things I have discovered with this surgery is that I feel "satisfied" after a few bites instead of eating 3-4 helpings before feeling satisfied in the past. I wish you the best and good luck with your decision!!! :)
