Questions For Long Timers

okay, here's my story. about 4.5 months ago, i found myself at the crossroads, asking my Dr about surgery. she put in the request and I was approved and started the process through Kaiser in South San Francisco.

At that point I got serious and started using Lose It! and working out, walking, swimming and going to the gym. My starting weight was 255.1 with a hoped for weight loss of 100 pounds. Since then ( June 13) I've lost 49 pounds. I met with one Dr, wasn't crazy about him and asked for another. I have an appt with Dr David Le tomorrow morning.

I know I could have had the surgery already but feeling good about my surgeon is a big deal for me.

Since then, I've been following a group of post op people, but most seem to be the other kinds of surgery (distal, RYN, whatever). They all seem to have a lot of problems with absorption and getting enough Vitamins in.

Unfortunately there don't seem to be a lot of Sleevers on there.

S my question is this, is there somewhere that post op Sleevers post with any long term conditions as a result of their surgeries?

I,m doing quite well without the surgery but my concern is putting the weight back on. After all, I've lost before, and gained it all back.

Any thoughts?

Kate

Ar you referring to this site? Because this is almost totally sleevers.

use the search feature to find relevant posts such as year out, 6 months out, reached goal, maintenance...

I have had alot of Success and am 9+ months out...no issues with Vitamins or such, I take a multi and about every third day whether I have been good with intake or could not get enough food in, etc, I wil have a shake that has he supplements added, just to be safe.

I think the long term conditions are really based more on your short term habits while you were adjusting and losing (I was on maintenence but decided to go another size down)...if you treat it as another diet, don't deal with your old habits, tackle the new issues, etc, it can ricochet and be just another diet, but if you continue to eat small bites, not drink liquids with your meals, eat protien first, etc you really can't avoid success, it will happen.

Hi Kate

i had my WLS because i had tried any all "diets" hate that word. I also lost a zillion lbs over and over, and then gained the weight back +

congrats on loosing your weight again through proper eating & exercise :)

if you think this is the time you can keep the weight off, thats great - no WLS necessary

but...............if once again you are afraid you might regain the weight, the WLS sleeve is for you IMO

the sleeve gives you alot of help to loose your weight, but.............you have to work with the sleeve by eating properly, small portions, following many rules, esp Water drinking before, during and after meal

good luck

DOS 12/15/11 235 lbs

10/15/12 145 lbs

want 10 more so i can join Lissa and others in the Century Club ;)

good luck on your decision
