I am scheduled for my sleeve on 9/7. I've been reading a lot about people having heartburn/acid reflux post-op. I've never had heartburn/acid reflux before and I'm worried about getting it. For those who have never had it before, and got it post-op, did it eventually go away or is this something that we will live with forever? This is a big concern for me because my Mom has suffered many years from terrible heartburn/acid reflux (stemming from ulcers) and I've seen her suffer over the years. I just don't want to take medication for the rest of my life and have to go through the struggles I've seen my Mom go through. Also, because most of our stomach is taken out, I'm wondering what kind of long term effect this could have on us?
Your insights are much appreciated!
