Swallowing Air?

I'm five weeks post op and I can't seem to figure out how eat or drink (or sometimes even breathe) without swallowing air. I'm forever trying to burp up this excess air because it is so uncomfortable. I totally understand being a little gassy a few days out from surgery, but I'm five weeks out and this doesn't really seem like gas...it's just extra air. Oh, and gasex makes me feel more uncomfortable, not less. Any else having this problem? Anyone have any suggestions?

I'm 2 weeks post op and I talked to my surgeon about this exact thing today. She put me on omeprazole twice a day because all I do is burp. For every swallow of Water or food it's 3-4 burps so I know your pain. She called me later this afternoon after speaking to her partner and she is also going to put me on a sub-lingual muscle relaxant to see if that helps. It's not so much that you are swallowing air as there is a lot less room for air to go. I go back to see her in 2 weeks and if the burping hasn't improved by then she's looking at doing an endoscopy to see if my esophagus needs to be stretched.

I don't know if this helps you or not but know you are not alone!
